Job Summary

This position will assist clients and support staff with proofreading and/or copy editing typed, scanned and handwritten documents. The proofreader requires superior language skills, i.e., spelling, grammar, punctuation, as well as familiarity with business terminology. Proofreaders should possess the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Essential Functions:

Work closely across all teams to ensure our work meets the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Proofread and edit necessary deliverables for error-free grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and tone. These include business plans, strategic plans, private placement memorandums, confidential information memorandums, prospectuses, investor pitch decks and more.
Read original copy or drafts, to detect and mark for correction any grammatical, typographical or compositional errors.
Proofread documents to ensure the material is visually and grammatically correct. Use standardized proofreading code to mark errors that appear in document.
Maintain log of all materials proofread and or copy edited.
Utilize technology to efficiently complete proofreading/copy editing services.
Return marked documents for correction and later checks corrected document against copy.
Research questions regarding spelling, grammar or word use and make corrections to original hard copy documents or electronic copy. If necessary, assist department manager with creating style tips or writing guidelines for distribution to department.
Interact with staff, and management to understand work assignments and communicate any changes that need to be made to the documents.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

What The Role Requires:

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years experience as a Proofreader, Copy Editor, or Copywriter.
  • An extremely deadline and detail-oriented approach
  • Strong sense of accountability.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills with a sharp attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously..
  • A curious mindset that never settles for how something has always been done and continually asks questions.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and Windows (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web skills a plus.
Salary: $25-$45/ hour
